Cannibal corpse es una banda de brutal death meta proveniente de Búfalo Nueva York. La banda fue creada en 1988 por el vocalista Chris Barnes, los guitarristas Alex Webster y Bob Rusay, como bajista Jack Owen, y el baterista Paul Mazurkiewicz teniendo influencias de bandas de Thrash metal como Metallica, Sodom, Sadus, Slayer, etc. aunque luego tomaran bandas de death metal como Death, Autopsy, Morbid Angel e Immolation. 
Cannibal Corpse es una de las bandas de death metal más exitosa, vendiendo en todo el mundo más de un millón de copias de sus álbumes, técnicamente sin tener representación en radio o televisión. Se caracteriza por sus letras extremadamente violentas, llenas de liricas que hablan sobre temas como la muerte, la putrefaccion, la acosacion sexual, mutilacion, desmemvracion y mucahas mas palabras bonitas y por sus portadas para los discos que tambien son bastantes sangrientitos. debido a esto, la compra de sus discos y su aparicion en esenarios fue prohibida en algunos paises de Europa y America. 
Instrumentalmente, la banda usa riffs rapidos y pesados, con solos rapidos pero breves, y junto con la voz, tanto la de Chris Barners como la de George Fisher, le dan un sonido brutal y crudo a la banda.
